If you ever find yourself suffering from any of these complaints, check out your kitchen cupboards. These weird but effective remedies are all made from stuff you probably have at home.
1. Yogurt as remedy for bad breath.
Don’t be fooled by its look. This healthy snack, while it aids in digestion, is an alternative to your regular mouthwash. Research shows that live bacteria found in sugar-free yogurt quash the bad-breath causing kind in your mouth.
2. Use olive oil to relieve eczema.
This kitchen staple is filled with vitamins A and E, which makes it a great moisturizer. After showering, while skin is still damp, apply olive oil all over your body to seal in moisture. It could prevent eczema from blowing up your skin and is another good alternative for lotion.
3. Eliminate stinky feet with vodka.
Vodka contains alcohol, a germicidal component that dries easily. Soaking your feet in vodka kills odor-causing fungus and bacteria. It also dries out any moisture, which help these organisms propagate. If you feel bad in wasting all that vodka on your feet, wipe your twinkly toes with a rag soaked in the liquid instead.
4. Sugar stops hiccups.
Hiccups could be irritating. When you find yourself starting to hiccup, take a teaspoon of sugar and swallow it in one gulp. Studies have shown that the sweetness from the sugar strains the nerve endings in the tongue and halts the spasm which is causing the hiccups.
5. Treat toenail fungus with Listerine.
Listerine is filled with antiseptic and disinfecting ingredients which can be used to combat the fungus in toenails. To use, soak feet in Listerine mouthwash for 10-15 minutes daily. For maximum effect, do it twice a day. Another use for this popular mouthwash is for curing blisters.
6. Make a face mask using tomato to treat acne.
Tomatoes are rich in vitamin A and C and oxidants which are good for the skin. Get one tomato and mash it into a pulp. Use the pulp as mask and spread all over your face and neck. Leave for an hour. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat your face dry.
7. Suck a lemon to cure motion sickness
Lemons contain tannins that prevent nausea due to excess saliva in the mouth. Sucking on a lemon before you travel is a good way to prevent motion sickness that could be annoying when you travel.
