Around 12 noon of December 10 2014 an anonymous woman who has been dubbed as the “Layaway Angel” walked into Toys R Us at Bellingham, Massachusetts and paid all of layaway balance on every open account. She paid $20,000 in total, making over 150 people weep over her generosity.
“This incredible act of kindness is a true illustration of holiday giving at its best,” the company said in a statement.
Her act inspired many others to do similar deeds for total strangers.
Jason Wood, one of the beneficiaries, took the money he was going to spend and used it to buy presents for Toys for Tots donation box.
“You’ve got to pay it forward. It’s good karma,” he said.
Tom Gubitosi gave $100 shopping sprees for 200 children. According to him, he donated the money in honor of his late mother.
